Long stay: the sensible default
A naming point, because it trips people up. “Long stay” here means a category of off-airport compound sold by the operators we compare. For most trips of three days or more, a Park Mark long stay compound is the answer. You keep your keys, your car does not get driven by anyone else, and the price per day falls the longer you go. The costs are time and faff: allow 20–30 minutes for the shuttle leg at each end, more at peak departure times when the bus is full of luggage.
If your trip is short enough that you are still weighing parking against simply being dropped at the terminal, drop-off versus long stay prices both properly, including the repeat-journey costs people usually forget.
Choose it when: you are cost-conscious, your flight is not at a brutal hour, and nobody in the party struggles with steps onto a minibus.
Avoid it when: you land after midnight with small children, or your schedule cannot absorb a missed shuttle.
Meet & greet: buying back an hour of your life
Meet & greet is the only product where the price buys convenience rather than just a parking space: you drive to the terminal, hand over your keys, and walk to check-in. On the way home your car is waiting for you. With an early flight, a late arrival, mobility needs or a boot full of ski kit, it is genuinely worth the premium.
The honest caveats: someone else drives your car (insured, uniformed — on the operators we list), and quality between operators varies more than in any other category. This is the category where the rogue-firm horror stories come from, and the reason our Park Mark rule exists. Covered: for the car, not for you
Covered parking at Bristol is the niche pick, and the people who need it know who they are: anything cherished, low-slung, soft-topped or leased with a punitive condition-report, plus anyone travelling in January who would rather not scrape ice at 5am. It is also the practical choice for EV drivers — the covered car park is where charging is actually available. You pay roughly £15–£25 over long stay for the week, and in exchange you walk to the terminal in two or three minutes.
Off-site: the value sweet spot
The off-site compounds we list are the quiet bargain of the lot: Park Mark assured, secure, barrier-controlled, with on-demand shuttles — routinely £10 or more under the headline long stay price for the same week. The trade-off is a slightly longer, less frequent transfer. If you would rather spend the saving on an airside breakfast, this is the one.
Three pricing truths worth knowing
- Book early. Prices climb as your drop-off date approaches — steeply inside the final week. Four to eight weeks ahead is the sweet spot.
- The gate price is not a real price. Turning up unbooked can cost up to 70% more than pre-booking the same space.
- Short stays price differently. A 2-day stay is not two sevenths of a weekly rate; minimums and duration bands apply. Our search prices each product for your actual dates, so compare totals, not day rates.
